Notre projet
We are a group of Michigan State University students working with the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities Integrated Language Option in French. We were interested in exploring Francophone West Africa and the contemporary music culture there. We realized that rap has a significant influence on social movements in West Africa, and we explored different music groups that promote social change in their countries. The rap artists we introduce here focus on issues ranging from political corruption to community engagement and female genital mutilation.
